doors, thresholds and more - oh my!

Like the little energizer bunny, things keep on going...

Big Red Door has been there for a few months - but now that we have a new storm door we can actually see it!

and back door...

and this might be boring to most, but my dad will appreciate seeing this new threshold...
and the stair riser Don repaired... (keep scrolling down)

from the outside (above) and from the inside (below)

and the stair riser has been repaired...

more to come... the cabinets have been refinished and the new cabinets stained... and the stove is in! We enjoyed a fresh, hot, locally grown traditional Irish meal (plus cookies) on Monday!

from antiquated to historical...

Our house is 100 years old this year! The first home built on this land that was once called "Elisa Moore's Property" this house was the original homestead. Here we are, one hundred years later giving her a well-deserved makeover.

The project at hand is a new kitchen... replacing the rather antiquated kitchen last updated in the late 40's.

Before... (See that counter space? Yeah... that's all there was...)

1950 Tappan Stove... has character - we're actually kind of sad to see it go...

Check out that linoleum... we're estimating 1930's.

We moved two of the original birch cabinets...
(lines on the wall indicate where the cabinet on the left was)

and added two brand new cabinets...

Hey, what's under there... could it be?

Yessss... original hardwood maple!

(Why do humans do things like this when we could go for a walk instead?)

Hey... it's roomy with no appliances...

(We could go outside and play with sticks, you know.)

3:30 pm today...

special thanks to mom and dad who risked life and limb to help...
and to don who shows up at just the right time!
